Apple Netbook Supposedly On the Way

Is Apple making a netbook?
News: Mini Laptop, netbook, whatever you want to call it; the subject of speculation for a long time is whether Apple is making one. A short while ago there were rumors spreading via a Russian website that Apple had a netbook with an Intel Atom processor in the making – a rumor that hasn’t been confirmed or denied since. As of the latest rumors from trustworthy sources such as the San Francisco Chronicle, Cnet, and TG Daily, it seems likely that Apple is working on a tablet or similar device.

On a side note, Sony – the company that stated from the very beginning that it wouldn’t ever make a netbook just came back telling us that they just released a W VAIO – just like all the others only more expensive. (Update: here’s our VAIO W Review)
The talk of an Apple netbook is centered around a rumor that Apple ordered a batch of tablet LCD screens from a Taiwanese manufacturer a while back and that an Apple netbook/tablet PC is now in production. Now there’s word from trustworthy sources that it’s not just a rumor but that such a device is on the way. Supposedly it’s a 10-inch tablet netbook with similar hardware specifications as other small laptop computers.
Unfortunately it won’t’ be cheap (not that anyone was expecting it to be). About $800 is the current estimate by those in the know.
