World’s Smallest Notebook Runs Windows XP

The world’s smallest portable PC has touchscreen and weighs 315 grams. It’s officially a MID (Mobile Internet Device) but pushes the boundaries since it actually runs a non-downscaled version of Windows XP.
The Sagecom Spiga SmartBook has a 4.8-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels, which is fully adequate for web browsing. In addition, the MID has full 56-key Qwerty keyboard, even if it’s an infitismally small one. It’s apparently also fitted with a 3G modem for browsing on the go.
Runs on Atom and XP
It comes equipped with Intel’s Atom processor for netbooks, while the operating system is Windows XP. So it’s a full two generations behind on the OS front but we’ll have to live with that in a 315 gram PC. Sagecom has also manage to cram in a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a microphone, stereo headset jacks, a 1.5-watt mono speaker, SIM card reader and Bluetooth. Not bad.
Another nice feature is that the Sagecom Spiga boots in less 30 seconds and is fully capable of running standard office apps such as Word, Excel and so on. You also get a stylus for the touch screen, a mini USB 2.0 port, a smallish 8GB SSD (Solid State Drive) and a Micro SD card reader, which allows you to store up to 16 GB of additional data. With Wi-Fi, 3G and HSPA connectivity you can also be online constantly.
