Glasses-Free 3D Tablet PC Demonstrated

The manufacturer Rockchip recently demonstrated a tablet that allows you to watch 3D content without having to wear those awkward glasses. Screens with glasses-free 3D support are now emerging in an increasing number of contexts. Now the Chinese manufacturer Rockchip demonstrated a tablet which is equipped with just such a display.

Rockchip has not released any more detailed specification sheets for the model, which goes by the name Supernova X1, and therefore it is not known precisely what technology is used to produce 3D images. Hopefully we learn more about this when the computer is presented in next month’s IFA trade fair in Berlin.
Engadget’s Chinese division nevertheless indicated that the material displayed on the screen is specially adapted for the format. They also compare the device with Nintendo’s upcoming game machine 3DS and suggests that the 3D effect can be adjusted or switched off completely.
